It used to be that if you lived in the U.S. and wanted a diesel in your BMW 5 Series, you were out of luck. With the latest 5 Series, however, the wait for diesel power is over. BMW has brought the 535d across the pond, and in the engine bay, it packs a twin-turbo inline-six that cranks out 256 horsepower and a massive 413 pound-feet of torque. With that kind of twist under the hood, the 535d can not only scoot, but thanks to an eight-speed automatic transmission and auto stop/start, it can also score a fuel economy rating of 38 mpg. Pair that with BMW's imposing styling and well appointed interior, and you have an impressive luxury sedan that will be a bit easier on the wallet when it comes to fuel bills.
