2025 BMW Z4 Changes
The 2025 BMW Z4 gains an available manual transmission for the optional six-cylinder turbo. The new Edition Handschalter Package incorporates the transmission with exclusive handling and trim upgrades. The current Z4 roadster hit the streets in 2019 and has received regular updates since then.
Choosing Your 2025 BMW Z4
The Z4 continues in two trim levels: 30i and M40i. The 30i starts at $55,045 including destination, and the M40i is priced from $67,445.
2025 BMW Z4 Engine Options
The Z4 30i carries a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission with manual mode. The M40i gets a six-cylinder turbo with the automatic or the newly available six-speed manual at no cost. All Z4 models feature rear-wheel drive.
According to BMW, the 30i accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. The M40i needs only 3.9 seconds.
Engine Type | Horsepower | Torque |
2.0L 4-Cylinder | 255 hp | 295 lb-ft |
3.0L 6-Cylinder | 381 hp | 369 lb-ft |
2025 BMW Z4 Fuel Economy
With the standard four-cylinder, the Z4 is EPA-rated at 25 miles per gallon city, 33 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined.
The more powerful M40i earns 23/21/26 mpg (city/highway/combined) with the automatic transmission. Ratings for the manual-equipped M430i are still pending, but we expect a slight drop in efficiency.
2025 BMW Z4 Dimensions & Cargo Capacity
The Z4 is a two-seat convertible measuring 171 inches long and 73 inches wide. At 10 cubic feet, the trunk is larger than expected in a vehicle this size. There's also a shallow storage shelf behind the seats.
2025 BMW Z4 Safety
Standard driver-assistance features are limited to automatic high beams and low-speed automatic emergency braking. The $700 Driving Assistant Package provides the remaining features most buyers expect, like blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, parking sensors, and full-range automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Adaptive cruise control is a $500 standalone option.
The Premium Package for the 30i includes a head-up display, automated parking, and adaptive headlights for $2,800. The package drops to $1,250 on the M40i because the adaptive headlights and some other bundled items are standard.
2025 BMW Z4 Technology
Every Z4 starts with a 10.3-inch touchscreen, ten speakers, navigation, HD and satellite radio, two USB ports, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging costs $200, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon system is available for $875.
