MINI's optional infotainment system functions much like parent company BMW's iDrive, using a joystick you can bump, twist and click to navigate the non-touchscreen's menu system. Voice control is also an option, though don't expect the extensive natural speech recognition and list of commands of Ford SYNC or Toyota Entune. The sophisticated new MINI Connected platform brings the brand in line with top competitors thanks to data-connected apps like internet radio, Facebook and Twitter coming to the car's infotainment interface. Android users are out in the cold: the advanced features only work with Apple's iPhone.
