toyota in car technology

New for 2012, Toyota's Entune infotainment system represents the cutting edge of interior connectivity technology, with a growing list of fun and useful apps running over Bluetooth and your smartphone's data connection, plus an excellent natural-speech voice control system that takes the headaches common to most systems away. As Entune begins to proliferate throughout the model range, many Toyota models make due for now with an older DVD-based nav system; not as feature-rich but accomplishing its goal just fine. Premium JBL GreenEdge and JBL Synthesis sound systems bring nice sound, but won't blow you away like something from Mercedes-Benz, Acura or Volkswagen.

BlueTooth Hands-Free

  • Advantages over aftermarket:  Entune can read incoming/compose outgoing text messages, access integrated address book via voice, and stream music from MP3/WMA files. Toyota models come with Bluetooth hands-free calling as an option, standard on many models.
  • About Entune: Toyota’s Entune is the company’s latest infotainment system, and features real-time updates for sports and weather, along with access to popular mobile applications like Pandora, Movie Tickets.com, and OpenTable.  But voice recognition is a key focus of Entune, and the result is a system which—among other features— allows drivers to state a full address without having to navigate a series of prompts. With Entune, Toyota’s engineers have sought to make their vehicle interiors a seamless extension of drivers’ digital lives.
