The Cadillac of Escalades, the ESV offers all the luxury and stage presence of the standard Escalade, but on a grander scale. The lengthened body provides greater stretch-out room in the second and third rows in addition to 46 cubic feet of cargo space. With the seats folded, capacity grows to a whopping 138 cubic feet, tops among all SUVs. When the ESV is doing passenger duty, the second row tumbles and folds at the touch of a button to allow dignified access to the rear bench.

The ESV first appeared in 2003 and was redesigned along with the standard Escalade in 2007. Since then, it has shared year-to-year changes with the rest of the line.

Major changes included:

The ESV got a complete makeover for the beginning of its second generation, featuring a fully boxed frame, a luxurious interior, and a hulking 6.2-liter V8 with 403 horsepower. The all-new E85 FlexFuel option became available in 2009, and Active Fuel Management -- which shuts down up to four cylinders at a time during light workloads -- was introduced in 2010. 2011 and 2012 saw few design changes, and the ESV is back for 2013 unchanged.

2003 - 2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV

Major changes included:

The long-wheelbase version of the standard Escalade, the first-generation Escalade ESV housed a roaring 6-liter V8 engine with 345 horsepower. A limited production Platinum ESV was offered in 2003. Tire-pressure monitoring and a lower suspension arrived in 2004, followed by an optional touchscreen and navigation system in 2005. Superior handling, a brawny drive train, and an ultra-luxurious interior quickly made this SUV a popular choice in its segment.
