When it comes to fuel economy mileage, the hybrid class of vehicles reign supreme. This is because of their technology that allows them to run partially on electric batteries, as well as reduced weight, and increased aerodynamics. Here are some of the best miles per gallon vehicles that you can find on the market today.
Toyota Prius
The Prius is the king of MPG. The Prius hybrid is one of the few cars created at the moment that can get over 50 miles per gallon. It can get 51 miles per gallon on the highway and 48 miles per gallon in the city. For a price tag of just over $20,000, it does not get much better than that.
Honda Civic Hybrid
The Honda Civic hybrid comes with a 4 cylinder 1.3 liter engine that allows it to be very efficient. It is the main competitor to the Prius, although fuel economy wise nothing is even close. The Civic can get 43 miles per gallon on the highway and 40 miles per gallon in the city.
Ford Fusion Hybrid
The Ford Fusion was named the Car of the Year by Motor Trend and it did have a strong case. Fuel economy was one of its top arguments, achieving 41 miles per gallon on the highway and 36 miles per gallon in the city, with a must stronger engine than the Civic of Prius.
Diesel Vehicles
Some of the diesel vehicles that are out in American markets, such as the Audi A3, Jetta TDI, and others also can make this list. They get around 42 miles per gallon on the highway, but are less efficient for city driving.
