How to Get Car Window Repair Coverage

March 11, 2010

Car window repair coverage is insurance that protects drivers from being liable to pay for a broken window in a vehicle. In some states, you do not have to pay any extra for window repair coverage. For example, Florida state driving laws dictate that windshield coverage is included in comprehensive coverage insurance policies. However, window repair coverage is not included in comprehensive car insurance in most states, so if you live in one of the states where it is not included, the following will help you get covered before you have to pay for a broken window in your car.

Step 1

Go to the website of your current auto insurance provider to get company-specific information on how to apply for window repair coverage. In the search box, type "window repair coverage," and look through the list of information that pops up.

Step 2

If you can't find the information you're looking for online, the best course of action is to call your insurance provider. Find the number on the company's website and give them a call. You will probably have to deal with a recording that asks you to press different buttons for different options, but if you press the correct buttons you will be connected to a representative that can help you.

Step 3

If you were unable to contact a human representative via the phone, go to the local headquarters of your insurance provider to ask in person. Once in contact with a human representative, just ask what you need to do to get coverage for broken windows, and the representative will tell you all you need to know.
