How to Get Free Quotes on Car Insurance

June 3, 2009

With the explosion of the Internet and other mediums to spur communication, it's very easy in today's climate to obtain car insurance free quotes. There are many websites out there that will compare insurance company quotes for you after you enter some information about yourself. You can also go to an individual company's website, or call them on the telephone, to get a more detailed free quote. Because they are one of the largest and more reputable insurance companies that exist today, let's look at how to obtain a free car insurance quote from Geico.

As with many insurance companies, the first page on Geico's website gives you a space to enter what type of insurance you want, and your zip code, to start the process of giving you a free quote. If you decide to proceed, you are then asked for some personal contact information, including name, address and date of birth.

After you have let them know who you are, you are asked to provide some information about your vehicle. Make, model, year and mileage are all obvious questions, but you are also asked to tell them where you primarily drive your car (such as to school or work), how much you drive your car to these locations on a daily basis, annual mileage and if you own your car or not.

After inputting information about your vehicle, you are asked to provide more personal information about yourself. Geico asks you to tell them about your job, employment status and what level of education you have obtained. You are also asked whether you are single or married, how old you were when you first received your drivers license and the status of your current insurance situation.

After all of these inputs, you asked a few more simple questions, such as criminal and accident history, slightly more insurance information (if applicable) and organizations you belong to. You then enter your email, create a password and you are shown your free quote.

The whole process takes about fifteen minutes, and is basically the same on any large insurance company's website. Geico clearly lists all of your potential costs, including your monthly premium. You can of course do any of this over the phone, but you may find it easier and more helpful to go through the process on the web. Additionally, you may find it simpler to compare different companies quotes to one another if done over the Internet.
