In normal use, a car battery will last between three and four years with average care. Regular battery care includes removing and/or replacing any bad cables and ensuring that the battery terminals are cleaned and shiny, if the battery is located under the hood. In many of today’s cars, the battery is either located under the back seat or under the trunk spare tire cover. In either event, there will still be contacts under the hood that have to be cleaned and the battery itself will also have to be cleaned and/or replaced after 48 months.
