A car rim repair can be done to repair a damaged rim. Since most drivers lack a welding set, hydraulic press or the tools that a machine shop or auto repair facility may have, you will need to rely on some simple ones like a hammer. There are no conventional rim repair products that are made for car owners. When a rim requires some repair work from damage sustained during driving, a simple hammer can pound the affected area back into shape until it can be looked at by a professional.

Repairing a tire rim requires that the vehicle owner remove the tire from the car using a floor or car jack. Unscrewing the lug nuts that hold the tire on to the car, the air should be removed from the tire as well. This will make life easier when making strikes on the rim in order to straighten it out. Ideally, it would be better to remove the tire from the rim, but this is not practical since again most car owners lack the required equipment to perform this task.

Once the air is removed from the tire, work can begin to pound the rim back into shape. You should make careful strikes at the warped or damaged rim area in order to keep from damaging other parts of the tire. You will probably not completely fix the problem completely but be able to make the rim look better than it did.
