Chevrolet Cruze Overview

The Cruze is new for 2011 and is much improved over the Chevrolet Cobalt it replaces. The new front-wheel drive 4-door compact is available in LS, 1LT, Eco, 2L2 and LTZ in order of base price and standard features. The base LS is powered by a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder making 136 hp and 123 lb-ft. of torque, while all other trim levels get a 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 138 hp and 148 lb-ft. of torque. Transmission choices are a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, with some trims only available with the automatic.

The innovative Eco trim uses lighter wheels, low rolling resistance tires, a smaller fuel tank and aerodynamic improvements to bring fuel economy as high as 28 city/42 highway mpg, truly excellent even in a class known for highly efficient models. Standard safety features include 10 airbags, stability and traction control systems and anti-lock brakes, though only the upscale LTZ is fitted with 4-wheel disc brakes. Pricing ranges from $16,525 to $22,225 before options.
