Dodge SRT4 Review Summary
"You'd expect the interiors of these economy-based cars to be simple. The SRT-4's is, and there's nothing wrong with that. Simple doesn't interfere with driving. The switchgear is pretty much standard Neon stuff, and works just fine. Plus, it has the important extras we need: supremely bolstered seats, a turbo boost gauge in easy view, large white-faced gauges and a thick-rimmed leather-wrapped steering wheel, though one size too large in diameter. "
"There are only three things you need to know about Dodge's pocket-rocket, the SRT-4: It has 230 bhp, 250 lb.-ft. of torque and no mufflers."
"It simply hooks up and scoots."
What reviewers liked least about the Dodge SRT4:
"...the SRT-4 suffers from a slightly mushy pedal and a tendency for rear wheel hop under heavy braking..."
"The exhaust note is interesting and throaty when accelerating but turns buzzy and annoying when cruising."
Dodge SRT4 Comparisons:
"We had mixed feelings about the interior, where a pair of serious racing-style seats offer plenty of support but, this being a Neon, the cabin materials and design still lag behind cars like the Protege and Sentra."
"There is a light pull at the wheel when you floor it in first or second, but compared with the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V and Acura TL Type-S (both cars have that high-powered front-drive, limited-slip recipe), the SRT-4 is a revelation. We also appreciated the neutral and crisp handling that is accompanied by a firm but not harsh ride."
Best one-liners about the Dodge SRT4:
"If you don't find the SRT-4's almost deafening exhaust reverberations inside the cabin to be music to your ears, well, you'll never be happy with this car."
"It's hard to criticize a well-priced car that can smoke a number of higher-priced sports cars (the Honda S2000 and Nissan 350Z come to mind)."
