One month after its Hybrid stable mate's unveiling, the Ford C-Max Energi debuted in late 2012 as a 2013 model. It features a 2-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion plug-in battery pack.
The electric drivetrain produces a peak power of 68 kilowatts, and the Energi delivers a total system power of 195 horsepower. It has a top electric-only speed of 85 mph and a hybrid top speed of 115 mph.
A five-door hatchback, the C-Max Energi uses an energy-efficient regenerative braking system, and has a charging time of seven hours with a 120-volt charger or 2.5 hours with a 240-volt charger. Like the Ford Focus Electric, the Energi has a charge port with an LED light ring that illuminates to designate its charge status.
