Major changes included:

A complete redesign adds comfort features throughout a cabin that seats up to nine. Optional seating packages for six, seven or eight are available, as well as tri-zone climate control, USB ports (from 2010 and on) and an array of electronic and entertainment options. Four Vortec V8 engines ranging from 5.3 liters to 8.1 liters are available. Safety features increase from 2007 onward. After 2012, the Suburban features blind-spot warning, trailer sway and hill-start assistance.

2000 - 2006 GMC Suburban 1500

Major changes included:

A small-block V8 engine produced up to 320 horsepower. An optional 8.1-liter V8 with 340 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque was available on some models. Additional changes included: four-wheel disc brakes and a self-leveling suspension system on the LS models. Power options become more prevalent in later years. Rear air conditioning was first introduced in 2002.

This generation was notable for a 5.7-liter V8 engine, though models after 1995 also featured a Vortec V8 that produced 290 horsepower. Four-wheel drive, an independent front suspension system and shift-on-the-fly technology aided off-road capabilities. In 1998, an automatic four-wheel drive feature was introduced.
