The base H3 and H3X are powered by a 242-hp 3.7-liter inline five-cylinder engine bolted to a standard 5-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic transmission (standard on H3X and H3 Alpha). The H3 Alpha features a 300-hp 5.3-liter V8 power for increased towing capacity and quicker acceleration, as well as heated leather power seats, Monsoon sound system and chrome exterior trim. The H3X includes a body color grille, chrome brush guard, 18-inch chrome wheels, heated leather power seats, Monsoon sound system, and chrome exterior trim. Standard safety features include: anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, frontal and curtain side-impact airbags, OnStar and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
Major changes included: A 3.7 liter Vortec 5-cylinder engine comes standard in generation one of Hummer’s smallest SUV. It emphasizes off-road utility, being able to ford 24 inches of water going 5 mph granted by its 9 inches of ground clearance. A Chrome Package option is available, which accents the side-view mirrors, door handles, and wheels. The base model is rudimentary, while the H3X boasts street-inspired styling, such as sharp angles and chrome accents outlining the body’s edges. The H3 is offered in an Alpha trim in 2008, which is set apart by a 5.3 liter V8 outputting 300 horsepower and 320 ft-lbs of torque. |
