A pioneer in the sport-luxury crossover niche, the Infiniti FX hit our shores in 2003 and is now in its second generation. The displacement of its V6 inched up this year to 3.7 liters, so it's now known as the FX37. The 325-horsepower FX makes no apologies for its sporting demeanor and aggressive appearance. Passenger and cargo space comes second to delivering thrills.

Based on the rear-drive G37 sedan, the FX behaves like a sporty passenger car, which has been its main selling point all along. Buyers also get a technology-laden interior with high-quality trimmings and a serious price break compared to similar-performing European rivals.

For the second generation, Infiniti redesigned the FX35 and gave it its new name: FX37. A new 3.7-liter V6 good for 325 horsepower. A seven-speed transmission sends the power to the rear wheels, or to all four when customers opt for all-wheel drive. One particularly interesting feature is a climate control system that detects environmental smells such as gas fumes and cleans the air before entering the cabin. This generation also received a facelift in 2012.
