While the ES 350 is based on the Toyota Camry, its rich list of standard features— leather-trimmed seats, wood appointments, Bluetooth , 10-way adjustable seats—and excellent fit and finish make it quite a luxurious ride. And none of that luxury comes at the expense of the environment, as it's also a certified Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle. Motivation comes from a 3.5L V6 (19/27 mpg), which makes an impressive 268HP on regular unleaded, mated to a silky-smooth six-speed transmission.
But while the engine is producing a healthy amount of power, the ES 350 isn't designed to be a sports sedan on par with offerings from German competitors like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Instead, Lexus engineers employed nearly 90 vibration-reducing measures to shield occupants from bumps and road noise. One of the most impressive of these systems is the active-control engine mount, which detects frequencies that the engine is emitting, and actually broadcasts counter-frequencies to cancel them out. Lexus has build its reputation on its whisper-quiet cabins, and it's clear that there nobody was resting on their laurels when they designed the ES 350. MSRP starts at $36,725.
