Lexus IS 250 Generations

For each major redesign, a vehicle is said to begin a new "generation."

Available in either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations, the IS 250 is powered by a 204 horsepower 2.5-liter V6. The front-wheel drive IS 250 utilizes a standard six-speed manual transmission, while a six-speed automatic with Formula 1 inspired paddle-shifters available as an option. The all-wheel drive IS 250 uses the six-speed automatic transmission standard. Safety features include driver and front-passenger knee airbags. The brakes are large and effective four-wheel discs, clamped at the front by aluminum four-piston calipers. Augmenting the big brakes are ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and Brake Assist. Traction control also comes standard.

2006 - 2010 Lexus IS 250

Major changes included: The IS received a complete redesign in 2006. In its second generation, the IS is offered in a RWD IS250 and AWD IS250, as well as a RWD IS350 trim. It drops the IS300 trim from the previous generation. The IS250 uses a 2.5 liter V6, while a 3.5 liter V6 injects 306 horsepower into the IS350. A Premium Package adds heated seats and Maplewood trim, while a Sport Package adds a sport tuned suspension and Xenon HID headlights.
