Mercedes-Benz didn't use the CL-Class name until 1998, but the CL600 belongs to a grand tradition of two-door S-Class models previously known as the SEC and S coupe.
Currently in its third generation of production, the CL600 improves on the performance of the CL550 with a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V12 that churns out 510 horsepower and moves the heavy coupe to 60 mph in only 4.5 seconds.
Despite having two less doors than the S-Class sedan, the CL-Class coupe actually weighs more—the result of added reinforcements needed for a lost B-pillar.
