The late 1990s saw the introduction of many SUVs that enjoy enduring popularity, and the luxurious Mercedes-Benz M-Class is no exception. When launched in 1998, it was the German automaker's sole SUV, and set the stage for further crossover development.

Today's ML350 is a third-generation vehicle that offers the dependability and performance customers have come to expect from Mercedes-Benz—something that wasn't always true of first-generation M-Class vehicles.

As the ML350 has evolved, its styling and features list have become even more refined—but it's also pricier than many competitors.

Major changes included:

The ML350 reemerged in 2012 with a new look that included revised headlights, apron, hood and grille up front, and new taillights, bumper and hatch around back. The new ML350 came standard with the same 3.5-liter V6 as the previous generation, but Mercedes-Benz retuned it to produce 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This power traveled through a seven-speed automatic transmission on its way to all four wheels through Mercedes-Benz's 4MATIC system.
