Designed to pay homage to its legendary ancestor, the 300SL, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG reigns as one of the preeminent icons in the world of high-performance luxury. The supercar evolved from 45 years of motorsports, and is easily recognized by low-slung styling and an aggressive stance.

Powered by a 6.3-liter V-8 mated to a seven-speed transmission, the SLS AMG has a peak output of 583 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Other performance attributes include a unique sport exhaust, a special AMG adaptive performance suspension, and forged alloy wheels. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is also equipped with a driver-activated Race Start function for maximum launch control.

Major changes included:

In 2011, Mercedes-Benz added some excitement to its lineup with the SLS AMG sports car, which debuted as a gull-wing coupe, but a convertible followed in 2012. Under its hood, the first-gen SLS AMG featured a 6.2-liter V8 with 563 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. In 2013, the SLS AMG adopted a new name -- SLS AMG GT -- plus it received a slight refresh to its headlights, taillights and trunk, and an extra 20 horsepower.
