Mercedes-Benz GL450 Generations
For each major redesign, a vehicle is said to begin a new "generation."
The GL-Class is offered with three different engine choices: a 210-hp 3.0-liter diesel V6 in the GL350 BlueTEC, a 335-hp 4.6-liter V8 in the GL450 and a 382-hp 5.5-liter V8 in the GL550. All engines are bolted to a 7-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive system. Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes w/Brake Assist, traction control, stability control w/roll control, eight airbags, mbrace SOS system, PRE-SAFE, trailer stabilization control and a security system, to name a few.
The following model years make up the most recent Mercedes-Benz GL450 generations:

Major changes included: The 3-row, 7-passenger SUV is based on the unibody construction design of the ML class, and lacks the boxy appearance of the G class. It features 4matic four-wheel drive and independent multilink suspension to increase handling prowess. It is powered by either a 4.6 liter or optional 5.5 liter V8, and a 3.0 liter diesel engine is also optional. The GL emphasizes power with its 7-speed automatic transmission. |
