What's New
While the Mini Cooper Hardtop continues to be the most recognizable vehicle in Mini’s lineup and is responsible for the brand’s success, larger options like the Clubman showcase Mini’s ability to provide drivers with more practical vehicles. After seven model years on sale, the Clubman lineup will be discontinued after 2024. This upcoming model year marks the end of the line for the wagon. To celebrate, Mini will be coming out with 1,969 units of a new Final Edition model that will have special badges and unique graphics.
Choosing Your MINI Clubman
MINI splits the Clubman lineup into two main choices: Cooper S and John Cooper Works ALL4. Then, the wagon is further broken down into three trims that include Classic, Signature, and Iconic. Pricing ranges from $35,045 (including destination) for a Cooper S Classic to $49,895 for a John Cooper Works ALL4 Iconic.
Engine Choices
There are two available engines with the Clubman. Both are turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder motors. The standard engine in the Cooper S comes with front-wheel drive and is available with all-wheel drive for an extra $2,100. The John Cooper Works ALL4 comes with AWD as standard.
The Clubman comes with a standard automatic transmission, though how many gears you get depends on the powertrain. The base Clubman Cooper S comes with a seven-speed automatic transmission, while the John Cooper Works ALL4 model comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. For drivers seeking extra performance, the John Cooper Works ALL4 model brings a large amount of extra grunt. It’s also quick in a straight line, as the model can get to 60 mph from a standstill in 4.6 seconds.
Engine Type | Horsepower | Torque | Fuel Economy (Combined) |
2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder | 189 hp | 207 lb-ft | 29 mpg |
2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder | 301 hp | 331 lb-ft | 26 mpg |
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
Part hatchback, part wagon, the Clubman has a unique look that results in a spacious cabin for a MINI, but things are still tight on the inside. The Clubman offers seating for up to five people with passengers in the back getting 38 inches of headroom and 34.3 inches of legroom. Consumers looking for a MINI with a roomier cabin will find the Countryman to be a better choice, as it offers 37 inches of rear legroom.
When it comes to cargo capacity, the Clubman has 17 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and a total of 48 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded.
Safety Features
The Clubman doesn’t come with the same list of standard features as other subcompact vehicles on sale. Standard safety features on the Clubman include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and rear parking sensors. The Iconic trim adds a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, and park assist as standard.
Connectivity
All Clubman models come with an 8.8-inch touchscreen. Other standard tech features include Apple CarPlay, six audio speakers, Bluetooth, an HD Radio, and satellite radio. The mid-level Signature gains navigation, while the Iconic trim comes with a Harman Kardon audio system and a wireless charging pad as standard. Android Auto isn’t available.
2024 MINI Clubman S – MSRP From $35,045
The Clubman S Classic trim starts things off with 17-inch wheels, keyless entry, heated exterior mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel that’s heated, air conditioning, heated front seats, and synthetic leather upholstery. LED headlights and fog lights are also included.
The Signature Upholstery package costs $1,300 and adds piano black trim, a black headliner, and leather upholstery.
The Signature trim is an extra $2,700 and adds a panoramic sunroof, synthetic leather and cloth upholstery, adjustable suspension dampers, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The $1,300 Signature Upholstery package is also optional on the Signature trim.
Stepping up to the Iconic trim costs $6,700 and adds a host of tech features. The model also feels more luxurious than the other two with auto-dimming mirrors, power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, power-folding exterior mirrors, and a 40/20/40-spilt rear seat.
2024 MINI Clubman S ALL4 – MSRP From $37,145
The Clubman S ALL4 is an AWD version of the Clubman S. It comes with all of the same features and is also available in Classic, Signature, and Iconic trims. Additionally, the AWD system also brings a standard eight-speed automatic transmission.
2024 MINI Clubman John Cooper Works ALL4 – MRSP From $43,395
The John Cooper Works ALL4 trim is the sportiest option available in the Clubman lineup. It comes with the more powerful turbocharged engine, AWD, and an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. The trim also gets larger brakes, 18-inch wheels, sport suspension, a reinforced chassis, and a special body kit as standard.
Moving up the Classic, Signature, and Iconic lineup nets all of the same features as on the lower Clubman S. The John Cooper Works ALL4 is also available with a Signature Upholstery package with similar features for $1,500. Standalone options include roof rails ($250), performance summer tires ($150), and a 40/20/40-split rear seat ($250).
Compare Clubman Trims Side-By-Side
The Signature trim for the MINI Clubman S strikes us as the best one to get. The extra features the Signature trim comes with are worth the upgrade, but that's not the case with the Iconic trim, which raises the Clubman into a more expensive segment. That’s why we also recommend sticking with the standard powertrain. There’s no denying that the John Cooper Works ALL4 is enjoyable to drive, but its starting price tag of $43,395 is high for what you get.
