What's New
The 2024 MINI Convertible is once again available with a manual transmission, this time as a no-cost option. The current MINI Convertible line debuted in 2016 and received its last refresh in 2022.
Choosing Your MINI Convertible
The MINI Convertible continues in three main trim levels: Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works. Models are available in two subtrims: Signature and Iconic. The Convertible's pricing starts at $36,695 including destination and climbs to $45,895 for the John Copper Works before options.
Engine Choices
Each MINI Convertible trim gets its own engine. The Cooper runs with a turbocharged three-cylinder, while the Cooper S carries a four-cylinder turbo. Exclusive to the John Cooper Works is a high-output four-cylinder turbo. The Cooper and Cooper S come standard with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and a six-speed manual is available at no cost. The John Coopers Works gets a performance-tuned eight-speed automatic. All MINI Convertibles feature front-wheel drive.
Engine Type | Horsepower | Torque | Fuel Economy (Combined) |
1.5L Turbo 3-Cylinder | 134 hp | 162 lb-ft | 32/31 mpg (Auto/manual) |
2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder | 189 hp | 206 lb-ft | 30/26 mpg (Auto/Manual) |
2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder | 228 hp | 236 lb-ft | 28 mpg |
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The MINI Convertible is a subcompact with seating for four. As expected in a convertible this size, the rear seat is best utilized as a storage shelf. However, it does fold down, boosting trunk space from 5.7 cubic feet to 7.6 cubes. The MINI can handle a weekend getaway for two, but nothing more. A power soft top is used on all models.
Safety Features
Every MINI Convertible comes with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and rear parking sensors. The iconic subtrim also carries a head-up display and an automated parking system. No further safety features are offered, which leaves out popular items like blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist.
Connectivity
The standard infotainment system for MINI Convertible provides an 8.8-inch touchscreen, navigation, six speakers, HD and satellite radio, two USB ports, and Apple CarPlay (but not Android Auto). Upgrading to the Iconic subtrim brings a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and wireless phone charging.
2024 MINI Convertible Cooper — MSRP From $36,695
Available in Signature trim only, the Cooper offers leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, automatic dual-zone climate control, automatic wipers, LED headlights and fog lights, proximity key access, and 16-inch wheels. The Signature Upholstery Package ($1,750) adds cross-punch leather seats and aluminum interior trim. Individual options include summer performance tires ($150), a heated steering wheel ($250), and Nappa leather steering wheel trim ($250).
2024 MINI Convertible Cooper S — MSRP From $39,395
The Cooper S Signature picks up the 189-hp four-cylinder turbo, plus selectable driving modes, heated side mirrors and windshield washers, and 17-inch wheels. Aluminum interior trim and the Nappa leather steering are also standard. Along with its safety and connectivity upgrades, the Iconic subtrim ($3,600) adds leather seats, a universal home remote, piano black interior trim, and 18-inch wheels when summer performance tires are selected. The Signature Upholstery Package and heated steering wheel remain optional on both trims. Adjustable shock absorbers can be added to any Cooper S for $500.
2024 MINI Convertible John Cooper Works — MSRP From $45,895
The 228-hp John Cooper Works gets the eight-speed automatic transmission, track spoke black wheels, and the adjustable shock absorbers as standard. The Summer performance tires are available at no cost. Other equipment and options are shared with the Cooper S. The Iconic subtrim costs $3,600.
