CONS
The Cooper is the base model within BMW's MINI lineup, featuring great driving dynamics and small-car practicality. For 2011 the diminutive model comes as either a 3-door hatchback or convertible, each available in a single trim level. The Cooper features a 121-hp 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. While this is not overwhelming power, the Cooper is quite light on its feet.
At around $20,000 to start the car is a little more expensive than cars rivaling its size and fuel economy, and things can quickly get much more expensive due to rather pricey options, but advanced German engineering does not come cheap. Available luxury features include 10-speaker Harman/Kardon surround sound system, a navigation system, a dual-pane sunroof and leather seating. Fuel economy is quite good at up 29 city/37 highway mpg for the coupe with manual transmission.
