MINI Cooper S Generations
For each major redesign, a vehicle is said to begin a new "generation."
The Cooper S, available as a hatchback or convertible, is powered by 172-hp turbocharged 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine capable mated to a six-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, ABS, traction control, stability control and run-flat tires. The convertible Cooper features head/thorax side airbags and an active rollover bar. A wide variety of interior trim materials and colors are available. Features such as Xenon headlights, sport suspension, Dynamic Traction Control, power sunroof, navigation system, parking sensors, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and satellite radio are optional.

2007 - 2010 MINI Cooper S
Major changes included: The second generation MINI Cooper features a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine, accommodated by the redesigned front end. The Cooper S adds a turbocharger to this, which increases horsepower to 172. The Cooper and Cooper S models offer a new rear axle and alluminum components to reduce the car's weight. | |
