For each major redesign, a vehicle is said to begin a new "generation."

The Murano can be had with either front-wheel, or all-wheel drive, and is available in S, SL, or LE trim. The Murano features Nissan's superb 3.5-liter six-cylinder VQ engine, which generates 265 horsepower. The engine is mated to Nissan's Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with adaptive shift control. Standard features for the Murano include 18" (20" on LE) alloy wheels, cruise control, LED rear taillights, and dual zone automatic air conditioning. Standard safety equipment includes, vehicle traction and stability control, brake assist, six airbags, and front seat active head restraints.

2009 - 2010 Nissan Murano
Major changes included: The second generation Murano is powered by a slightly more powerful 3.5 liter V6. New features include rain-sensing wipers, power rear lift gate, power fold-up rear seats, iPod integration, and a navigation system.

2003 - 2007 Nissan Murano
Major changes included: The first generation Murano was powered by a 3.5 liter V6. For 2006, the Murano received some updates in the form of LED tailamps and turn signals, standard color information screen, available back-up camera, and GPS.
