The xB is powered by a 158-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. A four-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode is optional, and both gearboxes are controlled through a high-mounted shifter, which falls easily into the driver's hand. Every xB is equipped with 16-inch wheels, air conditioning, power mirrors and windows, and power door locks with remote keyless entry, as well as a 160-watt Pioneer sound system that features HD Radio, Bluetooth audio streaming, MP3 capability and direct iPod connectivity, along with a regular auxiliary jack for other types of portable music devices. Safety features include a vehicle stability control system with traction control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, a tire pressure monitor, and dual front, front side-impact and overhead curtain airbags.
Major changes included: The second generation xB is powered by a 2.4 liter I4 shared with the Toyota Camry. It is slightly wider and longer than its predecessor, and features a less boxy, although still square-like, design.
