Are Used Commercial Truck Values Higher than None Company Pickups?

November 8, 2010

Used commercial truck values are higher than non-company pickups for several reasons. First and foremost, is the way they were outfitted in the first place. Since they were outfitted for work sites and the like, used commercial trucks tend to have such equipment as the big Duramax or similar diesel engine and heavy-duty driveline. Further, they also tend to be three quarter ton pickups, as opposed to non-company or standard half ton pickups (a Chevy Silverado 2500 versus a 1500, or a Ford F-250 versus a 150). And, commercial vehicles tend not only to be equipped correctly for hauling with the properly sized hitch, they will also include wiring for a snow plow and plow lights. As well as a heavy duty alternator and battery. Plus, they will be four-wheel drive vehicles and come equipped with a skid plate. All of this equipment makes them more valuable at trade time.
