Salvaged Vehicles

Salvaged vehicles are cars which have been totaled in an accident and no longer entirely function as vehicles. This is not to say they don't have their uses, however.

Salvaged cars are generally quite inexpensive and at the very least can be a good source of spare parts and scrap metal. Students may find the restoration of a salvaged vehicle a fun and informative school project. Someone who can acquire a salvage vehicle for very cheap or even free may find the repairs to be a fair investment if they can't afford a better car. While it is true that the repairs would cost more than the market value of the repaired car (this is the definition of totaled), for some, $500 in repairs for a functional vehicle worth $300 may be preferable to buying a $1000 car for what it is worth.

You can find salvaged cars near you in the classifieds of your newspaper, by contacting local junk yards or by using the Internet. Should you choose the latter option, there are many websites available to you to search for salvaged cars. CarsDirect.com may have salvaged cars listed by owner in their Used Car section. You can check the status of the vehicle and contact the seller directly through CarsDirect. Craigslist.com is also a great place to find inexpensive salvaged cars, but be cautious of scams.

Salvaged vehicles can be a great fixer-upper or just a good source of spare parts. By using the resources available to you at CarsDirect and other places, you can find the salvaged car which is right for you.
