The Excursion was produced by Ford between 2000 and 2005 and a used Ford Excursion is a highly sought after heavy duty SUV for those that want the largest SUV you can find. During the time of its manufacture, it was designed to primarily compete against Chevrolet's smaller Suburban. The Excursion was classified as a Heavy Duty vehicle and came with several variations of large Ford motors. The vehicle was produced with a V8 engine with displacement size choices of 5.4 liters and 6.0 liters. You can also find used Excursions with the high power Triton V10 6.8 Liter gasoline engine. For those that need maximum torque for hauling and towing, the vehicle can be found with the Ford Powerstroke 7.3 Liter turbo diesel engine. As with other Ford SUVs and trucks, the Excursion was made in several popular trim levels. The Excursion was primarily sold as a loaded vehicle in either an XLT or XLT Limited trim. However, there were a relatively small number of Excursions made with the less expensive XLS trim.
