You may wonder if a used Jeep Liberty is right for you. If you see a used Jeep Liberty for sale, should you consider it? A Jeep Liberty is a compact SUV that debuted in 2002. These SUVs stand out from other SUVs, both because of their smaller size and their cutesy design. The Jeep Liberty enjoys a reputation for ruggedness and performs well off the road. Upon its debut, the Liberty came with either 2 or 4 wheel drive. Limited edition features included leather trim, heated and powered seats, an Infinity sound system, a sunroof, a navigation system and hands-free cell phone connectivity. Today's Liberty comes equipped with an independent front and solid axle rear suspension, and also rack-and-pinion steering. In 2005, a new Liberty came with a 150-hp, 2.4-liter gasoline four-cylinder. This engine is not considered desirable on the used car market. It is best to avoid this model if you are purchasing a used Jeep Liberty.
A Jeep Liberty is a sound choice for the urban dweller who may want to enjoy some of the traditional features of an SUV, but need something a bit more compact, that will be easier to park and maneuver in urban settings. And for the city mouse who likes to take camping trips in rugged terrains on the weekends, the Jeep Liberty could be the perfect choice. Keep in mind, however, that like any SUV, the Jeep Liberty does not get excellent gas millage--only 19 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. It is important to consider the short comings of this model, however, before you decide if you want to buy a used Jeep Liberty.
