Learn more about the Lincoln LS: Lincoln LS Reviews, Pricing, Specs and more »
Since the Lincoln LS was discontinued in 2006, buyers are left with the option of purchasing a used Lincoln LS. The Lincoln LS was first manufactured in 1999 by Lincoln, as a rear wheel drive mid-size sport luxury sedan that had a functional, no-nonsense look. Originally, this car was available in 2 trims, namely, the LS V6 and the LS V8. The LS V6 had a 3 liter engine with 210 hp and a 5 speed manual or automatic transmission. The LS V8 had a 3.9 liter with 252 hp and a 5 speed standard automatic transmission. It had the ability to go from 0 to 60 in 7.5 seconds. Both trims came with dual zone automatic climate control, alloy wheels, fog lights and anti-lock braking systems. Since early models had transmission problems, prospective buyers should avoid buying these models. The Lincoln LS received its first and only major facelift in 2003 and both types of engines were made more powerful, fuel efficient and capable of producing more torque. The 3.0L DOHC V6 had electronic throttle control, continuously variable intake cam timing and improved intake runners. It had an increased output of 222 hp subsequent to the facelift. The 3.9L DOHC V8 engine had variable exhaust valve timing and this enabled it to produce 87% of its torque at 2000 rpm. It could, thus, go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds as its output was increased to 380 hp. Other changes included improved interior materials, addition of a navigation system, re-tuned steering and suspension, and the addition of a 10 speaker THX sound system. Plummeting sales resulted in the discontinuation of the Lincoln LS.
