The used Mercedes-Benz R350 comes from the R-Class, introduced for the 2006 model year as a new crossover wagon from Daimler's Mercedes-Benz brand. In the United States, the R-Class is primarily sold as the R350, which includes a 3.5 liter six cylinder engine that produces 268 horsepower. Assembly is completed at the MBUSI plant in Tuscaloosa, AL and Mexico City Assembly.

Most used R-Classes are very well equipped, with the majority featuring Mercedes-Benz's 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. A small number will be rear wheel drive, but these examples are rare. Thanks to competitive pricing for then-DaimlerChrysler employees, many R-Classes were short term leases financed by Mercedes-Benz Financial. These lease turn-ins are excellent values, and most come equipped with the Premium I package, which includes a six-disc CD changer and COMAND disc-based navigation on earlier models and hard drive-based navigation on newer models.

The R-Class is a six passenger vehicle, with two passengers in each of three rows. The 2010 model year saw the introduction of a seven passenger variant, with three seats in the second row. The interior is cavernous, and the third row seats fold completely flat to maximize storage space.

As with any pre-owned Mercedes Benz, be sure to look for a model that includes a factory-backed certified pre-owned warranty, or have a thorough inspection completed by an independent mechanic. Maintenance intervals are infrequent, coming only every 10,000 miles, but it is important that the previous owner was meticulous in following maintenance recommendations.

Prospective owners need not worry about their R-Class looking obsolete soon, as only a minor redesign is planned for 2011, and the next generation R-Class has yet to be discussed.
