It’s important to find out which used Saturn VUE model you should purchase when shopping for a used vehicle. The Saturn VUE was first introduced to the automotive market in 2002 as a compact SUV. This first generation model was manufactured up to the year 2007, with significant upgrades in the models manufactured between these years. Saturn then included two new variants to the VUE lineup; namely the Red Line and the Green Line. The Red Line debuted in 2004 as a high performance 6-cylinder SUV with Honda’s 250 hp J35A3 engine. The Green Line model is a mild hybrid vehicle equipped with a BAS (belt alternator starter) Hybrid system and a 36 volt Nickel Metal Hydride battery pack. The 2007 Green Line hybrids have a 170 hp, 2.4 liter Ecotec DOHC engine. However, these models aren’t given as good a rating as other SUV’s in their class. The second generation VUE was introduced in the year 2008 and included several additional features that the original models lacked. The 2008 model year VUE was designed similar to the Opel Antara and is available in several trims; namely the XE, XR, the Red Line and the Green Line. The second generation Red Line model has a 257hp 3.6 liter DOHC V6 engine, similar to the XR trim, but includes more sporty changes that set it apart from the XR model. The current Saturn VUE is available in three trims (XE, XR and Red Line) with spacious passenger seating and powerful engine options. Although there are several SUV makes designed to allow more cargo capacity and better passenger seating, it’s beneficial to buy a used Saturn VUE due to its low price and attractive interior styling.
