Buyers should definitely consider buying a used Toyota Tundra if they wish to buy a truck. The Toyota Tundra was first introduced by Toyota in 2000 as a pick up and is now the best selling foreign full size half-ton truck. Around 300,000 Tundra units are produced annually in Texas and all Tundra engines and transmissions are built in the US itself. The first generation Tundra was available in 2 engine choices. Namely a 24 V 3.4 liter V6 engine that produced 190hp and 220 lbs-feet of torque, and an LEV certified 32 valve 4.7 liter (i-force) V8 engine that produced 245hp and 315 lbs-feet of torque. It has a maximum towing capacity of 7,100 lbs and wasn’t considered worthy competition for Nissan or Ford. The second generation Tundra has 3 engines available. They include the 4.0 liter 1GR-FE V6, that produces 236 hp and 266 lbs-feet of torque. The 4.7 liter 2UZ-FE V8, that produces 276hp and 313 lbs-feet of torque; and the 5.7 liter 3UR-FE V8 engine with a 6 speed automatic transmission that produces 381hp and 401 lbs-feet of torque. The 6-speed automatic transmission, which is standard with the 5.7 liter engine, has the ability to lock up the torque convertor in the 5th and 6th gears. Giving it a quarter mile time of 14.7 seconds and a 0 to 60 km time of 6.3 seconds. The truck has a towing capacity of over 10,000 lbs. and a payload capacity of 2,000 lbs. Some of the standard features include anti-lock brakes, traction control, deck rail system, integrated tow hitch and an electronic brake-force distribution. The vehicle also features front and side curtain airbags, and vehicle stability control. Some other features include optional tow mirrors, a 100 liter fuel tank, back-up camera, 22 inch alloy wheels, and Bluetooth. The Toyota Tundra’s ability to tow a lot of weight and its low price make it a bargain buy.
