Volkswagen Passat Generations
For each major redesign, a vehicle is said to begin a new "generation."
The Passat is offered as a front-wheel drive four-door sedan or five-door wagon in one well equipped trim level. It's powered by a 200-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a six-speed DSG automatic transmission with Tiptronic. Standard features include a power driver seat, 6-disc CD changer, satellite radio, 17" wheels and tires, heated front seats and a power sunroof. Safety features include six airbags, four-wheel-disc brakes and ABS, speed-variable electromechanical steering, electronic stability control, tire-pressure monitor, full LED brakelights and a security system.

2005 - 2010 Volkswagen Passat
Major changes included: The sixth generation Passat, otherwise known as the Mk6, features a dramatically redesigned body. It is available in sedan and wagon form, offering Turbo, Komfort, Lux and VR6 trim levels. | |
1998 - 2004 Volkswagen Passat
Major changes included: The Passat is built on the Audi A4 platform and shares its good looks. The '98 Passat sedan was available in comfortably equipped GLS and loaded GLX trims, with either a turbocharged 4-cylinder or gutsy V6 engine. For 2000, all-wheel drive was offered and the wagon - previously only available in base configuration - could be had with a full array of trim and engine choices. Styling was updated slightly in mid-year 2001, and the virile W8 engine became available for 2002. |  |
