Volkswagen Routan Overview

The Routan is offered in S, SE, SEL, and SEL Premium trim levels. A 283-hp 3.6-liter V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission is standard on all trim levels. To make a minivan drive like a VW, the suspension is European-tuned and the steering is optimized for handling and improved driving dynamics. Standard safety features include traction control and ESP, side curtain airbags for all three rows, side thorax front airbags, driver side knee airbag, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist, and tire pressure monitoring. The Routan can be equipped with such niceties as automatic climate control, satellite radio, touch-screen navigation system with hard drive, rearview camera, 1 or 2 screen rear entertainment systems, heated front and/or rear seats, and LED reading lights.

For 2012, lane change assist with rear cross-traffic alert has been added as standard equipment to the SEL Premium.
