The C70 won’t win any awards for power or handling, but it’s quick enough and sporty enough to pass muster as a desirable convertible. Standard features are plentiful and include: 17-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth, CD player and eight speaker stereo system, dual zone climate control, HD radio, iPod auxiliary interface and auxiliary audio jack, leather upholstery, power seats, and satellite radio. Optional packages allow the driver to add rear parking sensors, navigation system, keyless entry, remote starter, 18-inch alloy wheels, upgraded stereo system, heated seats, and adaptive headlamps.
The Climate Package adds heated front seats and cabin air filters, the Dynamic Package (which features some of the upgrades in the Inscription Package) and a blind-spot alarm system. All versions of the C70 come standard with Vovlo’s excellent safety features which include anti-lock brakes, traction control, front mounted airbags, side airbags, head restraints, and an automatic rollover bar.
The C70 appeals to drivers in search of a European import with style and class, but one that isn’t limited to a two-door convertible or coupe. With the top up the C70 is an attractive two-door coupe that seats four comfortably and retains the attractive lines and Volvo reliability. There’s plenty of competition out there, in both sport coupes and convertibles, but the C70 shines as a do-it-all coupe high on safety and comfort. There are certainly more entertaining coupes to drive, but the C70 excels as a low-cost, high-safety coupe which remains just quick enough, just handsome enough, and just fun enough to make it worth a serious look.
