The 2025 Subaru WRX is set to arrive as a carryover model, although it will reportedly be doing so with a significant packaging update. The high-performanceTR (Tuner-Ready) trim that joined the lineup for the 2024 model year is already on track to be replaced by a new TS trim. According to reports, the WRX may receive a refresh for 2026 and convert to electric power as early as 2027.The WRX will continue with aggressive styling elements, including a hood scoop, angled front fascia, quad exhaust outlets, and black lower-body cladding. The five-passenger interior features a flat-bottom steering wheel, red stitching, and an 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen. Available equipment currently includes a Harman Kardon sound system, adaptive headlights, and upgraded braking and suspension systems.2025 Subaru WRX Engine & SpecsThe carryover powertrain includes a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission are standard on the WRX, and buyers can opt for a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).New for 2025, the manual-only TS trim is replacing last year's TR model. Per Automotive News, The new TS will build on the performance enhancements of the TR by adding a digital gauge cluster and assorted appearance upgrades. In addition, the TS will feature improved electronic dampers with tunings from STi.According to the latest EPA estimates, the WRX delivers 22 miles per gallon combined with the manual transmission and 21 mpg combined with the CVT.2025 Subaru WRX SafetyWe expect the EyeSight driver-assistance system to remain standard on the WRX. The bundle includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. The upper trims also come with evasive steering assist.The WRX earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ designation from IIHS.2025 Subaru WRX PricePricing should remain at present levels, subject to the usual inflationary increase.
