2025 Volkswagen ID.7 front three-quarter view
2025 Volkswagen ID.7
Volkswagen is going all-in on electric vehicles and is set to replace the Passat sedan with the all-new 2025 Volkswagen ID.7. The new ID.7 will join other electric vehicles like the ID.4 SUV and ID.Buzz minivan. Here’s what we know about the upcoming 2025 ID.7.The 2025 Volkswagen ID.7 features a conservative, yet stylish design that shares some features with the automaker’s other all-electric vehicles. The front end of the ID.7 has swept-back headlights, a thin horizontal light bar that connects the headlights, sharp styling elements on the front fascia, and ridges in the hood that help channel air to the side of the body. Thin taillights are connected by a horizontal bar, rounded edges, a sleek roofline, and a simple bumper design. All new 2025 ID.7 models include 19-inch wheels, illuminated front and rear logos, and power-folding mirrors. For a midsize sedan, we expect the 2025 Volkswagen ID.7 to have a generous amount of interior space. The sedan has a modern, high-tech design with a straightforward dashboard, dramatic ambient interior lighting, minimal physical controls, a large central touchscreen, and a thin instrument cluster that’s recessed into the dash. The design of the air vents makes them look like they span the entire width of the dash in one single swoop. At the moment, we know that the 2025 Volkswagen ID.7 comes with a 15-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display. There's also illuminated interior decor and a panoramic glass roof with electrochromic tinting. Other details include a heated steering wheel, 12-way adjustable heated front seats with memory setting and massage functions, and three-zone climate control.2025 Volkswagen ID.7 Engine & SpecsAt the time of launch, the 2025 Volkswagen ID.7 will come with a single electric motor that routes power to the rear wheels. The EV is rated at 282 horsepower and 402 pound-feet of torque. This model can get to 62 mph from a standstill in just 6.5 seconds. All-wheel drive will be available on both trims which will be released in the US, and AWD models will have a max hp of 335.The ID.7 comes with the same 82-kWh battery pack as the ID.4 SUV. In the sedan, the battery pack is good for a range of up to 386 miles in WLTP testing. We expect a range of around 300 miles in the EPA’s testing. A larger 91-kWh battery pack is expected to be available at a later date.2025 Volkswagen ID.7 SafetyVW claims the 2025 ID.7 will be available with “cutting-edge assist systems.” The large sedan will have features like automatic park assist, a memory system for the automatic park assist feature, lane change assist, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and vehicle exit warning system. We also expect to see modern features like automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.2025 Volkswagen ID.7 PriceVolkswagen hasn’t announced pricing for the 2025 ID.7 yet, but we're expecting it to start around the $50,000 mark.Competitors in the midsize electric sedan segment include the Hyundai IONIQ 6, Tesla Model 3, BMW i4, BMW i5, Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan, and Polestar 2.2025 Volkswagen ID.7 Release DateThe 2025 Volkswagen ID.7 was initially set to arrive in the U.S. in the second half of 2024, but a recent announcement from Volkswagen states that the electric sedan's stateside arrival will be delayed. The brand didn't offer an updated release date and cited changing market dynamics as its rationale. More information on the electric sedan should become available within the next few months. Please check back for updates as they become available.Pictured: 2025 Volkswagen ID.7Source: Volkswagen
