The Chevy Silverado 2500 and GMC Sierra 2500 trucks offer stronger powerplants and are sometimes cheaper depending on trim level, but offer inferior luxury features. The Ram 3500 also has a strong diesel option and an interior that's better appointed on all trim levels, but doesn't haul quite as much. As for imports, the Toyota Tundra offers a strong 5.6-liter V8 but doesn't offer a heavy duty option that really competes with the Ford, let alone the other domestics.
With that, the F-350 shows why it's part of the extremely successful F-series of Ford trucks. There's a wide selection and configurations to suit every want and need, and there's a powerful gas V8 and V8 diesel, as well as the opulent Lariat version – and many versions are available with the same convenience and technology features Ford puts in its cars. A serious truck like the F-350 merits serious consideration from anyone shopping in this segment.
