The relationship between Mercedes-Benz and AMG stretches back to the 1970s, and has produced a series of performance-oriented luxury cars that give sports cars a run for their money. The CL63 AMG is no exception.
It comes into 2013 unchanged from the 2012 model with a monstrous 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that tortures the asphalt with 536 horsepower. A seven-speed AMG SpeedShift MCT transmission delivers all of that massive power to the rear wheels.
This driveline certainly isn't built for economy, but still allows 15 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. Performance, on the other hand, is precisely what the CL63 AMG has on its mind, as it hits 60 mph in only 4.5 seconds and hits an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
But the CL63 isn't only built for speed. Its ultra-luxurious equipment includes a full-leather interior, 12-way power front seats, a 600-watt audio system and a sunroof. Safety is also a point of focus, as the CL63 AMG boasts 11 airbags in addition to Mercedes-Benz’s Attention Assist, Parktronic and Pre-Safe brake assist systems.
