Reaching 60 mph takes less than four seconds, and an electronic governor limits top speed to 186 mph. A start/stop system shuts the engine off at stoplights and other idling situations for marginal improvements in fuel economy: 14 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.
The AMG-tuned suspension, huge anti-lock disc brakes and a new-for-2013 electronically-assisted power steering system do a wonderful job of keeping the SL65 on the road in spite of your right foot.
The SL65 AMG delivers classic roadster styling with sharp lines and a long hood that flows into a sweeping windshield. The stance is aggressive with the front end hunched just lower than that of the rear. V12 Biturbo badges, wider side skirts and a rear diffuser with quad exhaust set it apart from the SL63. The rear spoiler is subtle and doesn't interrupt the natural line of the car, but is also effective in enhancing a masculine appearance.
The interior is full of luxurious appointments such as: diamond-quilted leather seats, dual climate control, auto-dimming mirrors and an electronically folding panorama roof with a feature that allows you to instantly change the glass from clear to tinted at the push of a button.
Another great feature is the Airscarf system, which uses vents in the head restraints to blow warm air on your neck should you put the top down in cooler weather. The Mercedes-Benz also comes standard with tech features like a Bang and Olufsen sound system and hands-free Bluetooth system.
