The GMC Yukon family of full-size SUVs offers room for up to nine passengers and the capability to haul their cargo. All models can be ordered in rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.
What's New for 2014
In preparation for the upcoming all-new 2015 Yukon, the 2014 lineup will have a shorter production run and carries over with essentially the same range of standard and available features. A new exterior color—Deep Indigo Metallic—is offered.
Choosing Your GMC Yukon:
You can divide the Yukon lineup into two distinct classes: the middle class SLE and SLT, and the upper middle class Denali.
SLE
Unlike many GM products, the base Yukon comes with lots of standard features including tri-zone automatic climate control, a Bose audio system, power-adjustable front seats, and heated outside mirrors. It's powered by a 5.3-liter V8 that produces 320 horsepower and 335 pound-feet of torque. With a standard six-speed automatic transmission, expect fuel economy of 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.
SLT
The SLT adds features like leather upholstery and satellite radio, but more importantly grants access to an array of optional equipment you can't get on the SLE. The SLT-2package, for instance, includes heated second-row seats with a power release for easier access to third-row seating. Like the SLE, the SLT comes with the 5.3-liter V8.
Denali
Think of the Denali as a less flashy—though just barely—alternative to the Cadillac Escalade. It's substantially more expensive than the SLE and SLT, and features a 403-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. Standard equipment includes heated and cooled front seats, wood trim, an eight-passenger configuration with second-row captain's chairs, navigation and more. There are very few options.
If you're looking at 2014 Yukons be sure to test the all-new 2015 models as well. If you opt for the outgoing 2014 model, we recommend a carefully-optioned SLT.
