Introduced in 2010, the INFINITI Performance line was intended as a way to push the premium performance envelope for INFINITI buyers seeking a higher level of exclusivity and driving exhilaration. This is INFINITI’s answer to the M line of cars from BMW and AMG offerings from Mercedes-Benz.
In 2014, there are two models in the IPL portfolio, both renamed for 2014: the Q60 IPL Coupe and the Q60 IPL Convertible. Both models bring together styling harmonized with performance, exhaust note with acceleration feel, and ride comfort with confident handling in a limited production package.
What's New for 2014
Beyond the adoption of INFINITI's Q-centric nomenclature and some minor color and trim changes, the INFINITI Q60 IPL carries over unchanged from last year's G37 coupe and convertible IPL variants.
Choosing Your INFINITI Q60 IPL
When choosing an IPL Q60 there are only two choices to make: coupe or convertible and manual or automatic transmission.
There are no options—everything else is standard.
Technological and convenience features include push-button start, automatic climate control, a satellite radio and an 11-speaker INFINITI "Studio on Wheels" by Bose stereo.
IPLs generate 348 horsepower—an increase of 18 horsepower over non-IPL models—and 276 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 6 pound-feet. Depending on transmission and body type, fuel consumption varies from 17 mpg city to 27 mpg highway.
Although we're suckers for a convertible, the extra cost may not merit the upgrade. We'd probably opt for the coupe.
