It was impressive enough when Mercedes-Benz dropped its 6.2-liter V8 in a large S-Class sedan. But wedging it under the hood of compact C-Class models shows an audacity we have to respect.
What's New for 2014
The 507 Edition has been introduced for the 2014 model year, boosting horsepower to an eponymous 507. With this astonishing power on tap, the zero-to-60 mph dash should take around 3.5 seconds.
Choosing Your Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG
The first choice a buyer makes is between the coupe and sedan:
Both feature a 457-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 matched with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy might not be as bad you expect: 13 mpg in city driving condition and 19 mpg on the highway.
Standard features include stainless steel sport pedals, carbon-fiber trim, performance seats, a performance steering wheel, light-alloy wheels and a chrome sport exhaust.
Option packages include:
- Multimedia: navigation, a rearview camera, enhanced voice control, Bluetooth, satellite radio, a six-disc DVD/CD changer, and a Gracenote media database
- Lighting: a headlamp cleansing system, bi-xenon headlamps and highbeam adaptive assist
- Lane Tracking: blind spot assist and lane keeping assist
- Full Leather: leather upholstery and memory for seating positions
507 Edition
In addition to 507 horsepower, look for an Alcantara-clad steering wheel, illuminated door sills, forged alloy wheels and carbon fiber trim.

The screaming performance of the standard C63 AMG should thrill most buyers—but we won't blame 507 customers for seeking out the ultimate C-Class experience.
