2014 Volkswagen Eos Overview

Cynthia Gast
Automotive Editor - April 2, 2014

A compact two-door convertible that seats four, the Eos aims for the touring automobile niche, offering an easy drive in the sun. If weather doesn't permit the full top-down configuration, you can opt for the retractable hardtop's panoramic sunroof. In rain or cold weather the Eos is as warm and secure as any coupe.

What's New for 2014

As with all Volkswagen models, the Eos now features the new Car-Net telematics system that includes crash support notification and support, remote vehicle access, and a way for parents to keep track of teenaged drivers. Last year’s four trim levels have been cut to three.

Choosing Your Volkswagen Eos

All Eos models are equipped with a turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder engine with a peak output of 200 horsepower and a six-speed automated manual transmission. Front-wheel drive is also standard.

Three trim levels—Komfort, Sport and Executive—let you select those feature packages that you most want to see in your Eos.

The Komfort level is the most basic and includes such features as:

  • Power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • An eight-speaker sound system with an in-dash six-disc CD player
  • 17-inch alloy wheels
  • Leatherette upholstery in two color choices
  • Seven exterior color selections

At the Sport level, several added features give the Eos a sportier feel without losing any of the excellent interior quality of the Komfort level. These items include:

The top-level Executive trim drops the sportier aspects of the Sport trim while retaining the upgraded light features and push-button start. It also adds several upgrades including:

Moving up to the Executive trim level adds only a few upgrades and raises the price of the Eos by more than $6,000. Unless your bank account allows, stick to the well-equipped Sport.
