John DietherAutomotive Editor - May 21, 2014What's New for 2015
The M3 is all-new for 2015 and available only as a sedan. The coupe variant is now part of the 4 Series.

Choosing Your BMW M3

The M3 gets its muscle from a twin-turbocharged 3-liter six-cylinder that makes 426 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. You can choose a specially modified six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual. The electric power steering unit offers three driver-selectable modes. Bodies feature a carbon-fiber roof and other weight-saving materials.
The cabin is outfitted with Merino leather and wood or aluminum trim, along with all the comfort and convenience features found in the regular 3 Series. In other words, the M3 comes pretty much loaded, although there is room for a few option packages:
- Driver Assistance Plus: Adds lane-keeping assist, blind-spot detection, side- and top-view cameras, and speed limit data.
- Lighting: Gets you full LED adaptive headlamps with automatic high beams.
- Executive: Equips the M3 withretractable headlight washers, keyless access, a head-up display, a heated steering wheel, a rearview camera, satellite radio and parking sensors.
You can order individual performance upgrades such as an adaptive suspension system and carbon ceramic brakes—as well as a handful of high-end conveniences.
CarsDirect TipThe M3 packs a ton of standard equipment, not to mention performance. We consider the adaptive suspension—reasonable at $1,000—to be the only essential add-on for performance fans.
