The Hyundai Elantra is a strong seller for the brand and became a mainstay of the compact car class when it was redesigned for 2011. Four years later, it's still a contender among its rivals, especially for those looking for lots of features at a reasonable price.
What's New for 2015
For 2015, the SE trim gets a new Style Package and the Sport gets a Tech Package with navigation.
Choosing Your Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai offers the Elantra in three trim levels, all with plenty of standard and optional equipment.
SE
The base SE trim comes well-equipped, with a 140-horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder and a six-speed manual transmission for $17,250. Standard features include remote keyless entry, a six-speaker audio system with satellite radio and USB/iPod connection, trip commuter, 15-inch alloy wheels and air conditioning. The six-speed automatic is a $1,000 option. The Popular Equipment Package adds a 4.3-inch color display for the radio and backup camera, automatic headlights, Bluetooth, 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, steering wheel audio controls and lighted vanity mirrors. The Style Package adds a sunroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED accent lights and chrome exterior trim.
Sport
Sport models get a 173-horsepower 2-liter four, a sport suspension, the 4.3-inch touchscreen radio and backup camera, leather upholstery, heated front seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED accent lights and projector beam headlights, LED taillights, blacked-out exterior trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a sunroof and a power driver's seat. An automatic transmission is available. The Tech Package includes a 7-inch navigation system with a 360-watt audio system and Hyundai's BlueLink telematics system.
Limited
Limited models downgrade to the 1.8-liter engine and lose the sport suspension, but add a standard automatic transmission and are otherwise equipped like a Sport. The available Ultimate Package adds a navigation system, BlueLink and 360-watt audio system, as well as a dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, and keyless entry and start.
For those looking for basic transportation, the SE won't disappoint and it's hugely well-equipped for the money. That said, Sport is even better equipped and still won't break the bank.
