Hyundai redesigned the conventional Sonata for 2015, but the Hybrid continues with styling from the previous generation released in 2011. For buyers who prefer the edgier looks of the old Sonata, this might be a point in the Hybrid's favor.

Choosing Your Hyundai Sonata Hybrid
All Sonata Hybrids come standard with the same drivetrain: a 2.4-liter gasoline engine that pairs with an electric motor to produce 199 horsepower. A six-speed automatic transmission delivers power to the front wheels. Fuel economy is decent at 36 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. A full-electric drive mode allows the Hybrid to hit 74 mph when power demands are low, though Hyundai does not specify the mode's range.
Buyers choose from two well-equipped trim levels:
Base
With a starting price of just $26,000, the Base comes with a nice list of standard features. These include 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, a rearview camera, remote keyless entry, heated power mirrors, automatic projector headlights with LED accents, LED taillights, dual-zone climate control, power windows and door locks, Bluetooth connectivity, Blue Link Telematics, and a six-speaker audio system. There are no factory options or packages.
Limited
For $29,500, the Limited throws in a handful of extra features like 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, leather seating, premium doorsill plates, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter.
You must choose the Limited if you want options like a panoramic sunroof, a 7-inch touchscreen with navigation, a 400-watt Infinity audio system, and NavTraffic. They're all bundled in a single $2,250 Premium Package.
CarsDirect Tip
A fully-loaded Limited is reasonably priced for the market, but still costs almost $6,000 more than a Base model. So unless you can get a great deal on a Limited -- a good possibility since the Hybrid will be redesigned for 2016 -- we're not convinced of its overall value.
